My son, Jeremy was born with significant medical needs, spent 11 days in the NICU getting a new diagnosis each day. Then we spent the next year's frequent hospital visits, multiple doctor appointments. I felt so alone during the first year of his life and wanted someone to talk to, to not feel so alone like I was the only one who had a child with special needs. I discovered the Parent to Parent in Oklahoma and I knew this was what I needed to do, my passion to help the families not feel what I felt. Then to help them stand on their feet and advocate for their own child.
Lora currently serves on the St. Francis Family Advisory Board.  She is a Partners in Policymaking Graduate.  She is a member of the Member Advisory task force for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.  Lora visits families who are in the St. Francis NICU and children's hospital.  Lora has also run Tulsa Sibshops for brothers and sisters who have a sibling with special needs for the past 12 years.
